Flyers

Flyers tell the story of New Yorkers.
New York City. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. And plenty of people are not making it. Though our city’s buildings are covered in Pyongyang-esque size banners showcasing the latest supermodel or blockbuster movie and glowing marquees announcing rising stars and the most popular broadway sensations, most New Yorkers are struggling to make it. Flyers are strapped to the lamp posts and newspaper boxes of every neighborhood—only to be torn by drunkards and beaten by weather—announcing dispirited art shows by malnourished artists, music lessons from bleary-eyed musicians, and every imaginable service from New Yorkers trying to make it by another day. And it’s beautiful. Better than Broadway. Because its real.
