Bean Boot and Milk

August 27th, 2010

Step. Moo.

This L.L. Bean boot lays beside an empty plastic bottle of milk on a sunny August sidewalk in New York City.

One year ago today.

Nursing Bras and T-Shirts

August 1st, 2010

Suck on this

Perhaps they have a combo deal. And what could possibly be the deciding feature that distinguishes a $15 t-shirt from a $16 t-shirt?

Dangling Shoes at Lexington and 83rd Street

April 19th, 2010

New Balance Pendulum

The running finally ends.

Over the decades shoes dangling from telephone wires and other street fixtures have supposedly indicated a number of things. Like where a person has been murdered, for example. Or where someone can purchase drugs. At this location in the mean streets of the Upper East Side, these dangling shoes most likely represent the death of a teenager’s future because their parents couldn’t get them into Harvard. Game over, Bif. Gonna miss you, yo.

Red Shoe at Night

April 18th, 2010

This looks new. Not sure what happened here.

Yet another lone shoe on a lonely New York City sidewalk. I imagine the other one is washed up on a beach somewhere along the California coast.

NYC Shoes: In Step With Spring

March 19th, 2010

Soon to be hitting the sidewalks of NYC.

The sunny weather has New Yorkers out on the sidewalks and wearing down their shoes. I like this shoe promotion in front of a store on the sidewalk of 14th Street. The prevailing philosophy here is that nobody steals one shoe.

The Truth Behind Lucky Brand Jeans

February 24th, 2010

Losing heads, and other parts, for expensive jeans.

This gathering of mannequins on Fifth Avenue in front of Lucky Brand jeans reveals a disturbing truth about what they think of their customers. And it has nothing to do with the fact that Lucky Brand jeans undervalues the possibility that its customers may have actual heads with brains in them. With all due respect skinny jean hipsters, these pants are skinny for a reason. And as far as steroid boy on the right is concerned, dude — is it really worth it? But we are expecting a huge snowstorm, and as we all know, the cold doesn’t help in that department at all, and being naked is certainly a liability. As far as the headless and mindless women are concerned, they’re looking good.

Kid’s Mitten Lost on NYC Sidewalk

February 18th, 2010

Heart. Lost mitten.

This mitten was lying on the sidewalk in the Upper East Side, and seemed so lonely without a hand in it. Somewhere there is a mother or father, or perhaps both, asking a young child where they lost their mitten. I’m sure they’ll never read this post: but it’s beside a trash can, on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 82nd Street, still handless.
